Day Treatment PDF Print E-mail

Adult Day treatment services are facility based psychiatric rehabilitation services designed to promote skill development and independence for clients with functional impairment due to mental illness or co-occurring substance use disorders. Biologically, the client is urged to consider the need for appropriate psychiatric assessment, medications to manage their symptoms, healthy lifestyle and exercise, and to receive routine medical care with their primary care physician. Psychologically, day treatment clients are provided a variety of individual and group activities to learn skills in managing emotions, improving social relationships, preventing relapse, intervening during crisis episodes, and learning about personal symptoms. Socially, day treatment clients are offered a structured day to interact with others, minimize isolation, and develop a support system. Once symptoms are stabilized, ADT clients are offered a wide array of pre-vocational and vocational opportunities. A typical ADT day is from 9am - 3pm with a schedule of therapeutic activities for each hour. Clients are strongly encouraged/expected to participate in structured activities.
